 It is difficult to believe that this is the first solo exhibition in Dublin by this hugely acclaimed Welsh painter.
Shani Rhys James is an artist whose quality as a painter outshines all that is fashionable and transient in contemporary art. Born in 1953 in Melbourne, Australia, she has since childhood lived in Wales and is undoubtedly the most exciting and critically acclaimed Welsh painter of her generation. A Jerwood Prize (UK's most prestigious prize for painting) winner in 2003, she has also won the Hunting Prize, National Portrait Award, Mostyn Open, the Gold Medal at the National Eisteddfod and was made an MBE in 2006. In 2007 she received The Glyndwr Award, presented by MOMA for her outstanding contribution to Welsh Art.
A hardback publication will accompany the exhibition.
