Maire O Sullivan. Also known in artistic circles as 'The Ballyvourney Artist'. A pharmacist by profession she took up full time painting in the seventies.
She is an internationally recognised landscape artist and paints in two mediums - oils on canvas and watercolour. Both her Irish and European paintings portray places of great historic interest and antiquity and have a mystical quality.
Most Irish landscape contains traces of a presence that has long since gone e.g. castles, old bridges, monastries, wells and old paths. She likes to portray this presence through her own emotions and experience to preserve for future years.
She has had numerous individual and joint exhibitions in Ireland and France. Her paintings can be found in many private collections internationally. She also accepts and very much enjoys commissions.
